Teamwork and Workplace Safety Go Hand in Hand

Flexibility and support between colleagues work best when people have the information, skills and preparation to carry out their tasks safely.

Good teamwork often comes down to something simple: people helping each other.

We support colleagues, take on occasional additional tasks and learn new skills as our teams adapt to everyday needs.

That's part of working together.

From an occupational safety perspective, flexibility works best when employees have the information, skills and preparation needed to carry out their tasks safely.

Teamwork and professional responsibilities

Romania's Labour Code, Law No. 53/2003, Articles 39 and 40, sets out responsibilities for both employees and employers.[1]

Employees are expected to fulfil their professional duties and follow workplace health and safety requirements. Employers are responsible for organising work and assigning duties within the legal framework.

Helping a colleague with an occasional task does not automatically mean changing an employment contract.

What matters is the nature of the activity, the skills required and the conditions in which the work takes place.

If the tasks change the type of work or other contractual elements, the rules on amending the employment contract under Article 41 of the Labour Code apply.[1]

Keeping prevention aligned with everyday work

Article 7 of Romania's Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 319/2006 requires employers to adapt preventive measures when working conditions change.[2]

Article 20 also addresses employee training, including the need to adapt it when risks evolve or new risks emerge.[2]

Consider a care facility.

Not every additional task calls for a complete new risk assessment. However, changes introducing different occupational risks should be considered.

Better organised information supports safer work

Risk assessments, safety documentation and training records are easier to manage when the relevant information is organised and accessible to authorised staff.

QHSE by DoHu supports the digital organisation of occupational health and safety processes through a modular software approach.

Digital tools do not replace practical training or workplace precautions. They can help teams manage the information supporting these activities.

Teamwork helps us work better. Preparation and prevention help us work safely.
